Cadiz, Inc.

What a private groundwater mining company might look like - the firm is looking at water under 34,000 acres in the Mojave Desert as a sell able resource to the suburbs and subdivisions in the Los Angeles Basin.  We appear to be entering the era of big solutions to big water problems - the current Cadiz Water Project is looking at 16.3 billion  gallons of water a year flowing toward the coast - link the Cadiz website.
